Rudd Seizes on Abbott's Lying Lips

Tony Abbott was under attack last night as the Government seized on recent comments that things that he said in the heat of the moment couldn't be 100% relied upon and only carefully considered statements could be taken as a promise.

The Prime Minister, in an interview with Kerry O'Brien, seized upon the comments made by Mr Abbott:

"Look. Tony Abbott's comments prove to the Australian public that he can't be trusted with the role of Government. It is the role of Government to shy away from all promises, whether scripted or not. People can vote for us knowing that we will break all our commitments whether carefully prepared or off the cuff. Look, its all about jobs, its about getting people working - even if have spent $100m of taxpayer's money in analysing and preparing a position on a matter we are still prepared to drop it like a stone if it looks like it might cost us a vote or two".
